940 788 Great Deals Made Easy

It’s that time of the year, Valentine’s day – on February 14th, where people celebrate their romantic love, admiration and friendship, usually through the buying of gifts and cards. From meals in, dining out to spending time with each other, here are some cheap and affordable gift ideas for her and him during Valentine’s Day.

Make a Valentines gift for him or her

Remember, while it’s romantic, don’t be persuaded by adverts and peer pressure into overspending. You could always make your loved one a handmade present – How about making a card or drawing of your partner? Your time is often the currency only needed.

Going out on Valentines? TasteCard will help

If you go out ever to restaurants *a few times a year or more, buy a TasteCard membership. You will save money on 2 for 1 offers at leading restaurant chains (from Belgo to Prezzo to Pizza Express). Use this free three-month trial here (make a note of the expiry date in case you barely use it, you can cancel it and you won’t get charged). The cost is £39.99 a year – after two trips the money saved will usually pay for the membership.

Staying in for Valentines? Grab a meal deal

From Wed 12 Feb until Sun 16 Feb, if you visit Tesco* you can grab a £20 Valentine’s dine-in meal – including a starter, two mains, a side, a dessert and half a bottle of champagne or a full bottle of wine or non-alcoholic alternative – while stocks last. Not a bad deal at all! No tipping to the server needed either. You save over £13.80 normally, according to Tesco.

Staying in for Valentines? Join Shopmium

Whilst at Tesco, make sure to make the most of the new App Shopmium. It encourages you to try new items and save money in the process. Shopmium highlights you can save up to £50 a week, try it now and at least get a free tub of ice cream – Just download the Shopmium app and enter my referral code ga8yq3 (I also get £3). Once registered you can tell your friends too and receive £3 – find out how here.

After this meal, how about cuddling up with a movie on Netflix or perhaps watch an old DVD? Sometimes it is the simple pleasures that are the best. If you have any tips, please share them below.
